Tree Removal in Montgomery County, TX

Safe, professional tree removal for Conroe, The Woodlands, and surrounding communities. Licensed, insured, and on call 24/7 for emergency removals.

Some Trees Have to Come Down. We Bring Them Down Right.

A dead tree near your house isn’t a maintenance project. It’s a countdown.

Every storm that rolls through Montgomery County — and we get plenty — puts more stress on weakened trees. Pine beetles work through stands of loblolly. Hypoxylon canker eats the inside of a still-standing oak. Roots rot from the inside in our heavy clay soil. By the time most homeowners notice the problem, the tree has been failing for two or three years.

Our crew has removed thousands of trees across Conroe, The Woodlands, Spring, Magnolia, and the rest of Montgomery County. Pine, oak, sweetgum, hackberry, Chinese tallow — every species in our region, every size, every level of difficulty.

We don’t oversell. If your tree can be saved, we’ll tell you. If it has to come down, we’ll tell you exactly how we’ll do it, what it will cost, and how long it will take. No surprises. No upselling. Just honest work.

If you have a fallen tree or hazardous situation requiring immediate response, see our emergency tree removal service.

Signs Your Tree Needs to Come Down

Not every problem tree needs to be removed. But some do — and the sooner the better. Here are the most common reasons Montgomery County homeowners call us for removal:

Dead or Dying Trees

Trees with bare branches in summer, peeling bark, fungal growth, or hollow trunks. Dead trees become more dangerous every month they're left standing.

Storm Damage

Cracked trunks, split limbs, leaning trees after high winds, or root systems exposed by erosion. Storm-damaged trees often can't be saved.

Too Close to Structures

Trees growing into your roof, foundation, septic field, or power lines. What started as a sapling is now a $20,000 problem waiting to happen.

Disease or Pest Infestation

Oak wilt, pine beetles, hypoxylon canker, and emerald ash borer can kill a tree from the inside in a single season. Removal stops the spread.

How a Tree Removal Job Actually Works

Most homeowners have never had a tree removed before. Here’s what to expect, start to finish, so there are no surprises.

1. Free On-Site Estimate

We come to your property, look at the tree, ask about your concerns, and give you a written estimate. We’ll tell you what’s possible, what’s recommended, and what we’d skip if it were our property.

2. Job Planning

Before we cut anything, we plan the drop. Where will the tree fall? What’s in the way? Do we need to section it from the top down? We share the plan with you before we start.

3. Safe Removal

We use the right equipment for the job — climbing gear, bucket trucks, cranes for the tough ones. Every cut is calculated. Every section is controlled. No fences damaged, no roofs hit, no plants destroyed.

4. Complete Cleanup

When we leave, your yard looks better than when we arrived. Branches chipped, debris hauled off, sawdust raked. The stump is your call — we can grind it now or come back later.

What Tree Removal Actually Costs in Montgomery County

We can’t quote you a real price without seeing the tree — but we can tell you the ranges most Montgomery County homeowners pay, so you know if a quote you got from someone else is fair.

Small trees (under 30 feet — mostly young pines, dogwoods, redbuds): $300 to $700

Medium trees (30 to 60 feet — most mature pines, hackberries, sweetgums): $700 to $1,800

Large trees (60+ feet — mature oaks, large loblolly pines, sycamores): $1,800 to $4,500

Hazardous removals (trees over structures, near power lines, leaning toward houses): $2,500 to $8,000+

Add stump grinding to any job: $100 to $400 depending on stump diameter.

Add full debris haul-off: included in most quotes.

What changes the price: tree height, trunk diameter, proximity to structures, accessibility for equipment, whether we need a crane, and how much debris there is to haul.

We give written estimates so you can compare apples to apples. If a competitor’s quote is dramatically lower, ask them what they’re not doing — usually it’s debris removal or insurance.

Tree Species We Remove Across Montgomery County

Different trees fail in different ways. Different removals require different techniques. Our crew is trained on the species native to East Texas and the ornamentals you’ll find in Montgomery County subdivisions:

Pines: Loblolly, slash, longleaf, and shortleaf pines. The most common removals in our region — usually due to pine beetle damage, lightning strikes, or hurricane-weakened root systems. Pines fail fast once they start dying.

Oaks: Live oak, post oak, water oak, red oak, and white oak. Usually long-lived, but vulnerable to oak wilt (especially in The Woodlands and northern Montgomery County) and hypoxylon canker. Oak removals are often more complex due to size and density.

Sweetgums and hackberries: Common in older Conroe neighborhoods. Brittle wood, prone to storm damage. Often removed when they outgrow their space.

Sycamores and pecans: Beautiful when healthy, problematic when not. Pecans drop limbs without warning. Sycamores often have shallow root systems that lift sidewalks.

Chinese tallow and Chinaberry: Invasive species that should come out, period. We see these in older Magnolia and Willis properties.

Ornamentals and palms: Crepe myrtles, Bradford pears, Japanese maples, and palm trees. Different equipment, different techniques, but we handle them all.

Tree Removal FAQs

Tree removal in Montgomery County typically ranges from $300 for small trees under 30 feet to $4,500+ for large hazardous trees over 60 feet. Most pine removals run $700 to $1,800. The exact price depends on tree size, proximity to structures, accessibility, and whether stump grinding and debris haul-off are included. We provide free written estimates so you can compare quotes accurately.

The Woodlands has strict tree preservation rules administered by The Woodlands Township. Trees over 6 inches in diameter (measured 4.5 feet up the trunk) often require a permit before removal, especially in front yards and easements. We can help you navigate the permit process and provide the documentation The Woodlands requires. Conroe and unincorporated Montgomery County have fewer restrictions but always check your HOA rules.

Insurance typically covers tree removal when a tree falls on a covered structure (your house, garage, fence, or vehicle). Most policies cover removal of one or two trees that have caused damage. Insurance generally does NOT cover removal of dead or hazardous trees that haven’t fallen yet. We provide detailed invoices and documentation that insurance adjusters need for claims.

Most residential tree removals take 2 to 6 hours from arrival to cleanup. Small trees can be done in under an hour. Large hazardous removals near structures may take a full day, especially if a crane is required. Storm damage cleanup with multiple trees can take 1 to 3 days depending on scope.

Stump grinding is a separate service we offer alongside tree removal. We can grind the stump immediately after removal, or come back later. Stump grinding typically adds $100 to $400 to a tree removal job depending on stump diameter. We grind 6 to 12 inches below grade so you can replant grass, plants, or build over the area.

Yes. Tree removal involves serious risk to property and people. We carry general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage on every job. We’re happy to provide a certificate of insurance before any work begins. Hiring an uninsured tree service to save money is the most expensive mistake you can make — if they damage your house or get hurt on your property, the liability falls on you.

Trees can be removed any time of year, but late fall through early spring (November through March) is ideal because trees are dormant, soil is firmer, and there’s less risk to surrounding plants. However, hazardous trees should never wait — if a tree is dead, dying, or threatening structures, remove it as soon as possible regardless of season. Hurricane and storm season runs June through November in our region, so dangerous trees should come down before then.

Yes, we offer 24/7 emergency tree removal across Montgomery County. If a tree has fallen on your house, blocking your driveway, or is leaning dangerously after a storm, call us immediately. We typically respond within 2 hours of a confirmed emergency call. Emergency removals do cost more than scheduled work due to after-hours rates and urgency.
